Following on from two heavyweight EP’s on Freerange and more recently, the Disco Permanente EP here on Delusions Of Grandeur we welcome back Soul Of Hex with their Pharaoh Machine EP. Brothers Gerardo and Emanuel Cedillo were born and raised in Mexico’s infamous border city Tijuana where, for the past decade, the duo have been immersed in the underground House and Techno scene. DJing, promoting events, performing live sets on their trusty Elektron hardware, and releasing underground floor fillers for labels such as Quintessentials, Secret Crunch, CVMR, and DirtCrew as well as running their own Vicario imprint, is all second nature to these two. Always keen to learn and push themselves, in 2018 they attended the Berlin edition of the Redbull Music Academy where they forged lasting relationships with mentors such as Mad Mike and Marco Passarani, who would prove to be huge influences on the music to come from SOH.

Say It Again opens this release in fine style with a high-energy disco-inspired workout featuring Gerardo’s bass playing, dubbed-out vocals, and raw to the core, rolling groove. Pharaoh Machine goes heavy on the filtered synths, squelching bassline, and bumpy house groove, creating another slice of dance-floor pleasure. Closing the release we have the low-slung deeper mood of Dreams which incorporates moody Detroit pads, spacey vocal, and a loping, shuffled groove to great effect
